Government—Liberals

Reform Senate

The Liberals intend to reform the selection process for new Senators, “through an open, transparent and public process,” but have been unclear so far on how they intend to do so.

In April, the Supreme Court ruled that any change in the selection of Senators would require a constitutional amendment, and therefore support from a majority of the provinces—the same effort required to abolish the Senate.
