Universal Child Care Benefit

The Universal Child Care Benefit expands the amount paid by the Federal government for families with children under the age of six ($160/month), as well as provide support to families with children under the age of 18 ($60/month).

The UCCB costs an estimated $3 billion/year. The catch is that this money is taxable by both the provincial and federal governments. Two-thirds or more of the payouts are effectively paid back to the government in the form of taxes.
